Summer’s Bedroom style: Eclectic + Modern
Summer’s apartment is colourful and electic; old-fashioned yet modern with lots of DIY touches like those fairy lights wrapped around the wrought iron bedframe with its classic blue French toile wallpaper, a jewelry tree hung with delicate origami swans and bedding.

Off the wall: Cool alternatives to headboards
A few yards of fabric, pinned taut to the wall, is a beautiful and glam substitute to a wooden headboard.
Go with artwork! bright, graphic paintings energize an otherwise neutral space.
Search on Craigslist or at flea markets for fireplace mantels for a unique headboard alternative.
Try wallpaper! Have extra wallpaper lying around? Use it to define a headboard space behind the bed. For extra pizzazz, frame the wallpaper with wood trim.

Chalkboard wall
One of my favorite décor ideas siphoned from the film is Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s character’s chalkboard wall headboard. Chalkboard paint, is quite trendy these days in the interior design world. But being the skilled architect that he is, Tom Hansen (Gordon-Levitt) took it to the next level, drawing a simple, Mission-style headboard, complete with shading and all.
